Ugh, being single on valentines is yet another holiday you have to deal with being alone and be reminded of it. Especially in your 30s, its difficult.. I wanted to write a self pity post for us single ladies in our 30s but I decided to do something better, and write the below instead. If you’re single, read this post!

However, it’s important to remember that love isn’t just for romantic partners but also for ourselves. Practicing self-love can have a tremendous impact on our mental health and well-being. I spent most of my life seeking love and validation from others, only to realize finally it my 30s that the only love that come first and foremost is the love that i can give myself.

Self-love is taking care of oneself physically, emotionally, and mentally. It means treating yourself with kindness and compassion, just as you would a close friend or family member. Self-love is about acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses and accepting yourself as you are. The good, the bad, with all your mistakes. Its good to remember that I am human, and probably am toxic if not conscious.. this awareness helps to become better people.

Self-love is crucial to our overall well-being. When we love and accept ourselves, we can be better at handling life’s challenges. We become more resilient, self-aware, and able to set healthy boundaries. Self-love also allows us to practice self-care, which is essential for maintaining good mental health.

Here are some ways to practice self-love this Valentine’s Day:

  1. Practice Gratitude: Take some time to reflect on what you’re grateful for. Write them down or say them out loud. Focusing on the positive things in your life can help shift your perspective and improve your mood.
  2. Treat Yourself: Do something that makes you happy. It could be something as simple as enjoying your favorite meal or treating yourself to a relaxing bath. Doing something you enjoy can help reduce stress and promote a sense of well-being.
  3. Practice Mindfulness: Take time to meditate and practice deep breathing or yoga. Mindfulness can help you feel more centered and present, reducing stress and anxiety.
  4. Celebrate Yourself: Take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishments, both big and small. Celebrating yourself can help boost your confidence and self-esteem.
  5. Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. When you make a mistake, don’t be too hard on yourself. Practice self-compassion by treating yourself with the kindness and understanding you would offer a close friend.

Remember that self-love is a journey, and it takes time and effort to cultivate. So, be patient and kind to yourself, and celebrate the progress you make along the way.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
